Risky. Exciting. Mid-life crisis. Bucket-list.

These are all words that describe the decision by Jason and me to decide to go all-in on starting our own business.
We had each reached a sort of cross-roads, seeking a stronger link between our efforts and outcomes. I had been working in education for 15 years, pulled into the profession by my values and kept there from a mix of fulfillment and inertia. I had succeeded in reaching a top role, but found myself increasingly burnt out. Jason had settled into an ideal role as a cutting-edge researcher in machine learning, working on methods that could lead to both longer lives and less expensive medicines. But then he was laid off, when the company cut its R&D team.
I had long wanted to start my own company again, after having a positive and life-changing experience doing so in my early 20s. Jason was ready to take his expertise in a new direction and be the technical leader of a startup.
But what would be the idea? It turns out, it was right at our fingertips.
In all those years of working, we were also living life. Exploring our world, raising two young children, and wishing we had a better way to capture and reflect on those moments along the way.
And so MoEra was born. An all-in-one tool for joyfully capturing, curating, and reflecting on life’s moments. Instead of a massive un-organized photo stream, oversharing on social media, or empty journals, we make memory capture easy. We also put each user in control of their destiny, choosing how they want their memories saved and grouped, what content is crucial to their story, and how much AI should help.
We’re kicking off a closed Beta test in late fall. If you’re interested in learning more and signing up, check out https://www.moera.ai/beta
