Healthy Habits

Habits are hard to start and hard to break. 


We get stuck in our cycles - for good and bad - and it takes conscious, sustained effort to change them. 


Moera is about creating a new healthy habit, one of reflecting and organizing in bite-sized chunks


Before my Moera Habit

Before Moera, I took photos - of family, for work, during travel, kid artwork, and lots of random stuff. Did I go back and delete these photos, or sort them into folders? Hahahaha! 😂 Of course not. I didn’t have time for that, and I didn’t want to - it felt like a chore, with almost no upside. 


But there was a big downside: here were all these photos - some great, but most mediocre - sitting on my phone. What was the point? I’d have to scroll through all those duds to get to something good. 


And the “memories” I wanted to remember weren’t really getting captured. When those “other apps” sent me flashbacks, they were pretty lame - a mix of good and bad photos, and completely devoid of any context.  And, making a photo book? Yet another time-consuming chore.🤯

With my Moera Habit

With Moera, I still take those photos. BUT!:

  • Now I capture the things I actually want to remember in a quick daily reflection.

  • 🥰 I can easily look back on positive memories, without endless scrolling.

  • 🗂️ My memories are sorted into categories (Eras and Tags). Because I did it in little bits of time, it never felt like a chore.

  • 💎 My photo library is now the photos worth keeping, because I’ve used “Clean up” regularly to get rid of duds.

  • 📒 If I want to bring those photos back to real life in a keepsake, I’ve already done the work of culling out the lame photos. 


All this through a daily or weekly 5-minute habit.

Starting a new Habit

  • 🤔 Make a decision: I’m going to capture moments I want to remember in Moera, and I’m going to clear out photos regularly.

  • 🚮 Be specific and realistic. Start small: I’m going to reflect for a few minutes every night. After I make a moment, I’ll use the cleanup tool to get rid of photos I don’t need to keep. Some nights, I might just do cleanup.

  • 🗓️ Make it part of your schedule & stick to it: Use the Moera notification to set aside time every night. It only takes 5 minutes.

  • 📣 Let others know of your intentions: Talk to your partner or friends about how you’re using Moera to capture the moments that matter to you, and look back on special times.
