Is my data shared with anyone?
As of the Beta launch, your data is ONLY stored on your phone. It is not shared with anyone. Once MoEra's backend is fully connected to the app, data will be shared in the ways indicated below. We will let you in advance of that change.

There are few ways we share data.

We use an authentication service, Auth0, to provide enhanced security and convenient login to our application using social media accounts. If you use a social media account for logging into our application, your name, address, email, and phone number associated with that social media account will be on an Auth0 server we are renting. However, Auth0 does not have access to your data. So while they technically have your data, they can’t see it.

If you choose to share your data with our in-app sharing features, then we will share that data with the users you have chosen to share with.

When you have a tangible keepsake created, we will have to share your data with the keepsake manufacturer to have the item created and delivered. We will only share the data necessary for manufacturing and delivering the keepsake, and that data will be shared via encrypted connections.

If we were approached by law enforcement with a valid subpoena, we will comply. We are not interested in becoming the next telegram.
Importantly we are NOT sharing your data with advertisers, trackers, marketing firms, etc., and we have no plans to ever do so. This is one of our core values, and one of the value propositions of our service. You can see more detail in our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

How is AI used in MoEra?
During the first phase of the Beta test, there will be no use of AI. As more features are added, you can choose to turn them on or off in the “Tools” section of the app, under the forthcoming “AI settings” section. In the future, we envision AI being available to help with grouping of photos, story descriptions, intelligent search of entries, keepsake creation, and more. These settings will always be adjustable by the user, so each person can choose how much they want–or don’t want–AI to help.

There are many features we plan to add, including: videos, audio, basic photo editing, basic text editing, tagging of individual photos, and location.
The Beta test will be important for figuring out which of these features are high priority, and which other features should be added.

What should I do if the app crashes?
A crash is basically a forced closure of the app because something went wrong; a likely cause of this is the app using too much memory. If this happens, please send the crash report to us through Testflight or shoot us an email. We do not automatically get notified of crashes. Rest assured that a crash does not mean that your entries are lost.
If MoEra doesn’t continue past the Beta test, can I get my data out of MoEra?
Yes! There are a few options for you:

PDF book of all the entries

A zip file of all the data, if requested
Also, all of the photos that you've referenced in MoEra will still be viewable in the "MoEra" album in your native photo app ("Photos" on iPhone).
What will the electronic PDF book be like that I’ll get after the Beta test?
At a minimum, the PDF will include each of your entries, including the title, date, photos, and any “story” text that you entered. Depending on how quickly development progresses during the Beta test period, the book may be something better than the minimum described.
How does MoEra work with the native photo library ("Photos" on iPhone)?
There are a few ways, depending on the action:
PHOTOS IN A MOMENT:

Photos saved to a moment are added to a new album called MoEra. This makes them easy to find in case you want to use them outside of MoEra (such as making a keepsake on another platform). It does NOT take those photos out of your native library.

If you remove a photo from a Moment, it has no effect on your native photo library, besides removing it from the MoEra album.
CLEANUP TOOL:

If you use our cleanup tool to delete photos from your phone, they do delete them from your Photos library. Just like if you delete them from the native library, they go to your “Recently Deleted” album for 30 days before being deleted permanently.
METADATA

At this time, metadata of your photos is not affected by MoEra. If this is expected to change at any point, we will let you know in advance.

How does MoEra work with social media?
MoEra is personal first, and social second. We do want to make it easy to post to social media. Unfortunately, we are limited by what the social media platforms accept for sharing. Our hunch is that those platforms want you to be forced to go directly there to do your posts. Details:

It’s easy to post to Facebook. Your selected images go directly, and you copy/paste the text of the moment.

For LinkedIn you can send the text from a moment to a post, and then add images directly in the LinkedIn app.

Instagram and TinyBeans do not accept shared content. We're looking into the option of you pulling your posts from there, if you want to.
For any of these options, you can easily access the images you’ve saved to MoEra by pulling from the MoEra album that was created on your phone by our app. You can also always copy the story you put into MoEra and paste it into another platform.
Will MoEra be free once it’s launched?
No, MoEra is a premium service that helps people quickly and joyfully capture memories, so they can be easily accessed and curated later on. We expect to charge a monthly subscription that is in the same range as journaling apps, which provide just a part of the features that we provide. As a Beta tester, you are entitled to one year for free, once the app launches in the App Store, if you complete the Beta test.
Will MoEra definitely launch in the app store?
We hope it will, but that’s not definite. We are using this Beta test to help determine marketability of the product.
